About Us

This is a group set up to support and help people with one thing in common.

Hello. My name is Shane, and I currently reside in Shrewsbury. Here is a bit about myself and why I started the group back in April 2023. I lost my firstborn, Ben, on Mother’s Day (March 18th, 2012). He was 28 years old. He’d had a heart & both lungs transplant at 23 years old. Then after 5 years, sadly, his organs were rejected. Then on April 3rd, 2022, 10 years later, I lost my 2nd son, Toby. He was a week into his 31st birthday. He’d been to the theatre to watch Chris Ramsey with his younger brother and, walking home, lost his footing and fell into the river and drowned. They both had everything to live for and loved life.

I decided to start the group, as waiting for counselling, which was 12 months at least, when I needed something there and then. Felt so alone and empty; no one could understand how I was feeling. I thought I’d start the group to help and support others who feel how I do. With empathy and understanding. Since starting on what would have been Ben’s 40th birthday, I have had the privilege of meeting approximately over 300 people who share their experiences too. The group is expanding month on month, and into other areas. Friendships are made and we support each other.

Not only does it benefit me, but it also aids others who share my understanding. This is a FREE SERVICE and Refreshments will be made available. Please reach out and know you’re not alone. Shane.
